Psychospirituality Unit 4, August 22

Unit 4 - On Psychospiritual Flourishing

The blend of psychology and spirituality is very interesting.  However, I can't help thinking of another concept which could be added to this blend; the additional concept is  philosophy.  Perhaps philosophy was not added as a third concept was because it is assumed to have been included, subliminally.  How would that word look if were included?  Instead of psychospiritual it may read 'psychophilosophicspiritual.'  How's that for an impressive term.

Either way, I am amazed at the importance of the mind and its involvement of the body's physical and physioological well being. Developing the mind in relation to spiritual enrichment is similar to practicing an art form. That progress proceeds in stages which are all interconnected. These stages of psychospiritual development begin at birth as primal and develop throughout our living experience to reach a higher level of consciousness. (Dacher, 2006).  Most interesting is how we can deliberately and consciously affect our current and future state of health by learning to exercise and tame our mind.

On The Path to Wholeness- A Self Analysis Unit 3

1)
A.On a scale of 1 to10, I would rate my physical well-being at 9.  This rating is based on overall physical fitness and condition of body.  A recent visit with the physician confirmed no major conditions and all organs and systems are functioning properly.

B Spiritual well-being rating is a 10. This high rating is because of my faith and strong belief in God, reinforced by attending regular worship.

C. Psychological well-being is also rated 10, due to the fact that I have learned to use psychological techniques to adjust and improve my own thinking and reacting.
     2)  A self developed personal goal is to continue with my recently self prescribed routine of healthy diet and physical activity through daily exercise (after eating the main meal of the day).
     3) Activities and exercises which help me to move towards my goal include diet and regular physical activity on a daily basis as well as quiet time when I can ponder, reflect and sometimes (in a natural environment) free my mind of things  and  thoughts so I can hear the wind blowing through the leaves on the trees;  the sounds of the insects; Or, look up and observe the clouds silently and slowly drift across the sky. I have already begun to implement these activities in my life.  My challenge is to maintain consistency with out interruption.
