On The Path to Wholeness- A Self Analysis Unit 3

1)
A.On a scale of 1 to10, I would rate my physical well-being at 9.  This rating is based on overall physical fitness and condition of body.  A recent visit with the physician confirmed no major conditions and all organs and systems are functioning properly.

B Spiritual well-being rating is a 10. This high rating is because of my faith and strong belief in God, reinforced by attending regular worship.

C. Psychological well-being is also rated 10, due to the fact that I have learned to use psychological techniques to adjust and improve my own thinking and reacting.
     2)  A self developed personal goal is to continue with my recently self prescribed routine of healthy diet and physical activity through daily exercise (after eating the main meal of the day).
     3) Activities and exercises which help me to move towards my goal include diet and regular physical activity on a daily basis as well as quiet time when I can ponder, reflect and sometimes (in a natural environment) free my mind of things  and  thoughts so I can hear the wind blowing through the leaves on the trees;  the sounds of the insects; Or, look up and observe the clouds silently and slowly drift across the sky. I have already begun to implement these activities in my life.  My challenge is to maintain consistency with out interruption.

  1. I think it is extremely important to be physically fit. I know that I could do better with diet and exercise but at times I find myself being lazy. I think this is something you have to be willing and dedicated to do and it seems that you are. I find my spiritual well-being high as well because I feel that my strength comes from God and I don't believe I could deal with all of lifes struggles if I didn't have a strong belief in God.

  2. Dear SpiritOne,

Well, you are certainly doing a great job of living your life in a very integral fashion! Congratulations on being so happy and whole. I am sure you will be able to maintain your wellness by eating healthy, getting your exercise, and staying aware of your consciousness. What kinds of physical activities do you like to do? Have you ever journaled before as a way of de-stressing or ever tried affirmations to help you focus on your manifestations? My goal is to up my scores from the 6 and 7 numbers to the numbers you have, lol. I wish you all of the best in maintaining consistency without interruption. :)

    Take Good Care! :0)

  3. You ARE the "Oh Wise One". Sounds like you have a balanced life. I probably rated my well-being lower than I actually am, but I feel that I have something to work on all the time. Once we accomplish a goal doesn’t mean that we stop. We should continue to work on that goal and make it a part of our life. The most important thing about learning new things is implementing them in our lives. Congratulations on a healthy life, and I pray you will find JOY in this JOURNEY of life.

  4. Kudos to you. Your ratings are excellent, and meaningful since how you rate yourself is what matters most. Good luck and good fortune!

  5. Hi Mike-
So, how's your psychospiritual development coming along? :-) Seriously, do you find our
study of how the mind affects our physical well being useful?

For me, I have found snawers to some of the matters about which I never gave second thought.
The idea of the effectiveness of the mind, in terms of its power to influence the the physical as well as the physiological/ state of health issues, is tremendous. Now that I understand that concept, I intend to focus on developing my inner self through my own willful consciousness. ...what a job to accomplish!
All the best to you and your positive efforts.

  6. T8Family- Greetings-
How are you progressing with the self examination exercises? Isn't it great how we are being encouraged to examine ourselves from the inside?

Studies of Loving-Kindness and the Subtle Mind have caused me to be more aware of myself and others. In the process of internalizing this information, I am learning to enter a more calm state of being. Because of this, I am now able to witness others who need to still their minds from fluttering and bouncing around. I am also able to "see" myself and where I fit in my environment. The environment does not revolve around me because I am special. I am honored to be a tiny component in life's great external environmentof.

  7. Hello Yolanda-
Your daughters are beautiful. They embody the image of how Loving-Kindness would look. Are you sharing the practice of contemplation with them? I'm wondering how the development of a calm-abiding mind would benefit children. Perhaps if it could be interpreted so that they could understand, some of our approaches to mind-development may be beneficial to their educational achievements.

Children have simple, honest loving and forgiving minds that are not as polluted as our adult minds. Even without contemplative practice their thinking could be clear. Perhaps a future study will focus on the minds of children. I the clarity of their minds attributed to the fact that their minds are fresh and uncluttered or is it because their minds are youthful?

  8. Greetings T8-Family-
I enjoyed reading your comments because they are true. We should always work to accomplish goals. I also agree with what you said about learning new things and implementing them into our lives. That is my definition of living – or shall I say, the meaning of life. If you rated your well-being low, then think again. When selecting a goal, which is better; to choose a goal out of your reach or, one within easy reach?
A goal that is out of reach requires a journey. A journey which turns out to be a great educational experience!
