1. Based on your reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being optimal wellbeing), where do you rate your A-physical wellbeing, B-spiritual well-being, C-psychological well-being? Why?
A. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate my physical well-being at 9.98. Aside from an occasional stiffness, from sitting too long in one spot, as in stud assignments and reading, I have no physical complaints. I consider myself fortunate to be relatively physically fit.
B I rate my spiritual well-being at 9.99. This is because I feel spiritually fit. I try to maintain a positive spirit. That is, I have a bright outlook on life, no matter how unfair life seems. discovered it is easier to avoid confusion and un-cluttered thinking by taking “things” too seriously
C My psychological well-being can be rated 9.0. That’s because, for the most part, my mental facilities seem to function effectively. I learned that worrying can cause stress and tension.
Watching an occasional comedy program can stimulate one’s sense of humor and bring laughter. By laughing, we forget our troubles and release some of the stress and tension that could otherwise cause chronic illnesses that range from psoriasis of the scalp to asthma. (Zinn, J., 2007) Crying can be another way to relieve stress and tension. Babies and children know this technique very well.
2. Develop a goal for yourself in each area (physical, spiritual, psychological)
.A. A goal for improving my physical well-being will include providing regular time, each day, regardless of the weather conditions, to practice physical activities/exercise.
B. A goal for strengthening my spiritual well-being will include spending a regular amount of time, on a daily basis, when I can just reflect and contemplate with thanksgiving and gratitude.
C. A goal strengthening my psychological well-being includes practicing subtle mindedness through quiet contemplation. I expect this practice will cause my mind to be calmer and think more effectively.
3. What activities or exercise can you implement in your life to assist in moving toward each goal?
A. Activities for improving my physical well-being include walking and running 2 or 3 miles each day for a minimum 45 minutes .
B. Since I already attend worship services I will continue to do so. I can also improve my spiritual strength through practice loving-kindness every day of the week..
C. The best exercise for practicing subtle mindedness is through daily meditation. I attempt to practice each of the four forms of meditation; sitting meditation, walking meditation, standing meditation and meditation while lying down.
4.Complete the relaxation exercise The Crime of the Century. Describe your experience. (What it beneficial? Frustrating? etc.)
